There hasn't been a lot of Jazz on this blog, lately. Luckily, we just received fresh promo copies from a young, promising label.

Contemplate Music is based in Berlin and was founded in fall, last year. Their current website does not reveal much information, so I am guessing the following albums are the first releases.

ADHD is a quartet from Iceland, whose sound moves somewhere between Jazz and Indie-Rock. On "#2" you will find calm, atmospheric asongs, such as "Örté", as well as some faster, rock-infused ones that don't cease to have a strong melodic structure. While ADHD was already nominated for the "Icelandic Music Awards" in various categories and the current album "#2" even for the "Nordic Music Prize 2011", they are still quite unknown over here in Germany. Let's hope that this will change...

Sebastina Studnitzky's band KY produced their new album "Do Mar" in Portugal and Iceland. As the title already tells you, the main theme for the 8 songs on this CD is the ocean. One could imagine, that the whole album changes between romantic sunsets in warm Portugal and wild, stormy waves in cold Iceland. However, KY always maintains a soothing mood throughout where one can do nothing but having beautiful pictures in mind, such as the one below.

This time, the label from Berlin is releasing Sweatson Klank's first EP - well - that is with this moniker. Because Sweatson Klank is in fact a veteran, and one can surely say also a pioneer in beat music, constantly blurring out the border between Hip-Hop and electronic music. However, most people probably know his previous artist name "Take". His last album, named "Only Mountain", came out in 2010.
With "Elevate Me", Sweatson Klank accomplished to create an EP of pure quality, where it's hard to pick out any track. Listen to the first track now, but make sure you get the whole thing on wax!

Monkey_Sequence.19 is a Japanese producer, which you can vaguely count to the New Beat Generation that is strongly inspired by the late J Dilla. So far, he did not shine too much over here in Europe as it is typical for Japanese artists. The logical consequence was a collaboration with Dutch singer Mar. "Pretend" is getting released as a 12" with remixes by fellow Japanese Kan Sano and Kiwi Julien Dyne.

I just saw, that Nick Waterhouse is releasing his debut album "Time's All Gone" at the beginning of June this year. As a little teaser, I want to show you one of his previous works "I Can Only Give You Everything". Listen to it and ask yourself "In which decade was this produced?". Brilliant...

Another guy from Kansas, named Miles Bonny, is teaming up with producer B. Lewis to release the Egg Black EP. Heavy Beats and a smooth voice are adding up to a great combo.
